With the rise in popularity of grain free boutique diets, Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) has become more common in the general population. Unfortunately, DCM can be difficult to detect until the disease is advanced into heart failure. We believe in health screenings to detect these silent diseases early, using diagnostic tools such as electrocardiograms (measuring electrical conduction through the heart), thoracic radiographs (to measure heart size), and if indicated, referral for echocardiogram (to evaluate heart function). Early detection with proper treatment of this disease can delay the progression or even reverse the condition.
In effort to minimize anesthetic risk, and detect silent underlying disease, we preform cardio pet ECG screening with all surgical cases.
